The Civil Service Commission announces an open-competitive examination for the position of Firefighter D/Paramedic the East Haven Fire Department.

SALARY: $64,100 42 hours per week, working a 24 hour on, 72 off schedule

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License from the State of Connecticut; a High School Diploma or GED; current license as an Paramedic in the State of Connecticut; must be 18 years of age, and have valid CPAT Card issued within 2 years ( any time after January 1, 2022) by time of appointment. Candidates must pass a physical examination, drug screening and background check in addition to Civil Service Testing. Candidate must not use tobacco products.
APPLICATION FEE
There is a $85.00($35.00 FirefighterApp.com; $50.00 Town) fee payable Online to FirefighterApp.com.
EXAMINATION
The examination will consist of a a written exam with a pass point of 70 which is worth 2/3rd of the final grade; an oral exam with a pass point of 70 which is worth 1/3rd of the final grade.
Additional credit may be awarded after successful completion of all phases of the exam:
- 1. Candidates who believe they are eligible for Veteran Credit must attach copy of DD214.
- 2. Candidates with college credits may be eligible for the Education Credit and must request an Official Transcript from their college or university be sent to The Civil Service Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven CT 06512 to receive credit.
- 3. Candidates may be eligible for Foreign Language Proficiency Credit by attaining a rating of “Intermediate-High” on a Foreign Language Competency Exam. Candidates who believe they are fluent in a foreign language must submit the “Foreign Language Proficiency Examination Credit Request” form available with the application to The Civil Service Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven CT.
- 4. Candidates who possess Firefighter I Certification in the State of Connecticut must submit proof to The Civil Service Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven CT 06512 to receive credit.
- 5. Candidates who have successfully completed The Firefighter Academy Recruit Training Program within the last 5 years must submit proof to The Civil Service Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven CT 06512 to receive credit.
- 6. Candidates must submit proof of Paramedic Certification by the State of Connecticut to The Civil Service Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven CT 06512 to receive credit.
- 7. Candidates who are currently in a Paramedic Program must submit proof to The Civil Service Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven CT 06512..
