Haddam Volunteer Fire Company, CT Firefighter Jobs

Volunteering in Haddam Volunteer Fire Company will include various tasks and training that all revolve around the core idea of preserving life and property in the Town of Haddam. As a Volunteer Firefighter you will be trained how to safely operate en-route to and on the scene of an emergency. 

Firefighting tasks include; combating, extinguishing and preventing fires of all types. Members will also be driving and operating fire apparatus, using power tools including the jaws of life, and learning fireground operating procedures which include strategy and tactics as well as various safety techniques. All training is provided. 

Members meet each Monday, and train on average 3 nights per month.

All new members are sworn in as Probationary Members, giving them roughly a year to settle in, join a committee, meet company training requirements with the help of a "Buddy" and pursue state certifications, usually Firefighter I and Firefighter II. 

Eligibility

• Applicants must be 18 years old or older

• Applicants must have a valid Connecticut drivers license and a satisfactory driving record

• Applicants must not have had a felony conviction and be willing to consent to a background investigation to verify

Must reside or work in one of the following Communities: Higganum, Haddam, Tylerville, Killingworth, Chester, Durham, South District Middletown area.
