FIREFIGHTER/FIRE INSPECTOR (FULL-TIME) – WOODBURY CITY

City of Woodbury (Gloucester County) is currently seeking one (1) F/T Firefighter/Fire Inspector.  Candidates must meet the requirements specified under N.J.S.A. 40A:14- 81.2, and must meet and be able to perform all duties described in the City ordinances.  Copies of certifications and training documents must be available for review by the City Administrator upon request.  EOE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must meet all Requirements of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-81.2
• Applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and must be eligible to be hired on or before their 35th birthday.
• Applicants must become a permanent resident of the State of New Jersey upon appointment.
• Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must possess a high school diploma or acceptable GED equivalency diploma.
• Applicant must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.
• Applicant must possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License.
• Must be Firefighter I Certified with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.
• Must have Hazardous Materials Operations.
• Must be certified in CPR at the Health Care Provider Level.
• Must possess IMS Level I certification with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.
• Applicant must possess a valid Fire Inspector Certification issued by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety or the applicant must obtain it within one year of employment. And maintain it during employment.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years active firefighting experience in an organized municipal fire department involving fire suppression, hazardous materials and other public safety emergencies.
• Applicants may be asked to complete and pass a written and/or practical examination, pass a physical agility examination, and participate in a firefighter interview review panel.
• Applicant(s) offered conditional offers of employment will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess a Firefighter II certification issued by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.
• Certified as a Level I Instructor issued by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.
• Hold a valid New Jersey Class B Commercial Driver's License.
• Advanced training in fire suppression, firefighting tactics, technical rescue and fire protection technology.

Applicant Priority:

Qualified applicants will be giving priority selection based on the following and under title 40A:14-10.1a:

• Residents of the municipality with preference to qualified applicants of volunteer firefighters of the Woodbury Fire Department.
• Residents of the County in which the municipality is situated.
• Residents of the State of New Jersey.
• All other qualified applicants.
