LINCOLN RESCUE SERVICES: AEMTC/PARAMEDIC POSITION

Overview

Lincoln Rescue Service is currently seeking to fill one full-time AEMTC/Paramedic position, as well as to establish a list for future employment opportunities.

LATERAL TRANSFER CANDIDATES

Qualified Lateral Transfer Candidates must possess ALL of the following qualifications for consideration:

(1) United States Citizenship.
(2) Minimum age: 18-years old;
(3) Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
(4) A Valid Driver’s License.
(5) Advanced EMT Cardiac or Paramedic Licensures
(6) Level I /II Fire Certification and Fire Ground Operations
(7) Must have the ability to pass a physical examination given by a Town physician, a drug screening, an oral examination, and a background investigation.
(8) Upon appointment, must serve a one-year probationary period.

Lincoln Rescue Service is a Municipal (Town) third service that serves a population of approximately 22,529 and covers 18.9 square miles. The department deploys two transporting advanced life support (ALS) level units 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Last year call volume totaled 4,860 calls for service. All Lincoln Rescue Service providers are either AEMT-Cardiac or Paramedic level EMS practitioners. Department staffing includes a Chief, (4) Shift Captains, (4) Shift Lieutenants, and (8) ALS level Practitioners. The Department provides assistance with fire suppression for four (4) fire districts located throughout the Town. Level I /II certification is required within one (1) year of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the position of the AEMT/C and Paramedic include, but are not limited to:

Maintain required licenses and certifications;
Maintain knowledge of prevailing Rhode Island Statewide EMS protocols and Department standards;
Maintain proficiency practice and scope of specific psychomotor skills within R.I. Statewide EMS protocols and Department standards;
Provide comprehensive, effective, safe, and compassionate care to all patients under the care of Lincoln Rescue Service;
Maintain equipment and vehicles in a mission ready status at all times;
Performing daily equipment and supply inventory checks;
Complete all documentation in accordance with Department standards;
Comply with all Departmental and applicable Town policies and procedures;
Maintain accountability for all controlled substances;
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times;
Ability to operate all assigned motor vehicles, medical equipment, and tools necessary for employment with Lincoln Rescue Service;
Must retrieve, clean, and stock all necessary medical equipment and supplies;
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of assigned vehicles and buildings of the Lincoln Rescue Service;
Attend and participate in all required staff trainings, and in-service meetings;
Participate in community outreach and public relations education and activities;
Maintain an awareness level understanding of:

a. Fire Suppression and Fire ground Operations

b. Hazardous materials scene operations

c. Confined space rescue operations

d. Surface and swift water rescue operations

e. Ice rescue operations
