NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATION FOR

FIREFIGHTER / EMT-CARDIAC OR PARAMEDIC

 

The Coventry Fire District will begin accepting application for its hiring and eligibility list beginning June 1, 2025 – July 1, 2025.  The eligibility list will remain active for two years.  The Coventry Fire District reserves the right to readvertise as it sees fit.

Firefighter / EMT Cardiac $63,080 - $72,040 (annually)

Firefighter / EMT Paramedic $64,120 - $73,080 (annually)

 

MINIMUN REQUIRMENTS

Individuals wishing to apply for the hiring / eligibility list must successfully meet ALL the following requirements at the time of application.

 

  • - U.S. Citizen, conversant in English
  • - 18 years of age at the time of application
  • - Must present a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • - Must possess and furnish a copy of a valid driver’s license.
  • - Must present documentation you are certified as an Emergency Medical Technician Cardiac (EMTC) or   Paramedic (EMTP) or currently enrolled in an EMT-C or P certification course.
  • - Applicants MUST have a valid RI EMT-C or P at time of hire and must agree to maintain certification as   a condition of employment.
  • -Physical Performance Assessment (PPA) certification, no more than twenty-four (24) calendar months old from time of hire, administered by the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs.
  • - Successful completion of the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs written examination, no more than twenty-four (24) calendar months old at date of hire.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • - A swim test will be given to the top 10 qualifying applicants
  • - A successful 100ft ladder climb will be required by the top 10 qualifying applicants.
  • - Upon being considered for employment you will be required to pass a BCI check and a physical examination along with a negative drug test by the Coventry Fire District’s appointed physician.

 

ADDITIONAL NOTE:

  • - NFPA 1001, FF 1 and FF 2 are worth two (2) extra points on total score
  • - Candidates with completion of a Municipal RI Fire Academy class will receive three (3) extra points on total score.
