The Town of Johnston covers 24.4 square miles and is home to approximately 30,000 residents. Johnston is a suburban community with a mix of residential, industrial and commercial use. Johnston is home to large corporations such as Citizens Bank, FM Global, Amazon along with many retail stores. Johnston Fire Department responds to 8,500 calls for service each year. We staff four Engines, one Ladder, three Rescues and one Battalion Chief.

Minimum Requirements

• 18 years of age
• US Citizen (Birth Certificate and/or US-INS papers)
• High School Graduate or GED Certificate
• Possess a valid drivers license
• Firefighter I&II Pro Board Certified
• Must be a RI EMT A/Cardiac at time of employment

Job Description/General Duties:

This entry-level position includes all aspects of firefighting and emergency services at the cardiac license level. Working Various shifts, you will be a member of a highly skilled team that delivers firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services to the community.

Testing Requirements:

• Accepting Lateral Transfers after passing the required NFPA Physcial
