Fire Fighter

The Borough of Naugatuck is accepting applications for the position of Fire Fighter.

Applications for employment will be accepted until midnight on June 29, 2025. All applications must be completed and submitted online at www.firefighterapp.com/naugatuck. No paper applications will be accepted.

Eligibility Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

CT certification as a Fire Fighter II

A Connecticut driver’s license (CDL or 2Q highly desired) at time of conditional offer

Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old at time of conditional job offer.


Possess a valid (not older than two years) CPAT card at the time of conditional job offer
Applicants who do not have a valid CPAT card at time of a conditional offer of employment will be bypassed but kept on the eligibility list. Eligibility lists are typically valid for two years.

Candidates must successfully complete and pass a thorough background investigation and post offer physical examination including drug & alcohol screening.
A successful candidate shall serve a probationary period of 12 months.

The Naugatuck Fire Department relies on call back of off duty fire fighters. Applicants must be a resident in one of the following towns:

Exams
The examination process, which must be successfully completed in order to become a fire fighter with the Borough of Naugatuck, will consist of the submission of a completed application, a written examination and oral exam with the Naugatuck Board of Fire Commissioners. Veterans and Naugatuck residents will receive additional points on the written exam.

Written and oral exams are planned for July or August 2025. Applicants will be notified of the date, time, and location as soon as they are set.
